Picked up a 2019 GLE a few months back from a private seller over in Jumeirah and the whole time I thought the brakes were just a bit soft by design because you know Mercedes and their whole luxury wafting thing but turns out the rear pads were basically down to the metal and the previous owner must have just been ignoring the warning or got it coded out which is a special kind of shady, anyway I'd been putting it off because I dreaded the whole song and dance of finding a place that doesn't treat you like a walking wallet the second they see the star on the hood. Ended up booking a Mercedes car brake pad replacement service with a shop in Al Quoz that a colleague swore by and I was half expecting to get the usual up sell about rotors and sensors but the guy actually showed me the old pads on the bench and said the discs were still within spec which felt like a small miracle in this city. Got the OEM Jurid pads put on and the weird groaning noise I had when reversing out of my parking spot every morning is completely gone plus the pedal actually bites where it's supposed to now instead of somewhere near the floor, I didn't realize how much mental energy I was spending just trying to modulate the stopping distance in traffic until I didn't have to anymore. Just wanted to share in case anyone else is driving around thinking their Mercedes is supposed to feel like they're stopping a fully loaded cargo ship with a prayer because it might just be time for a pad change and a decent mechanic who won't take you for a ride.
